5 Real Life Splatoon Strategies

splat

Splatoon is basically the best.  As I have spent WAY too much time playing it, I came up with some pro strats to be reminded of!

Remember Your Weapons Strengths

Remember that time in Splatoon when you tried to use your roller as a sniper gun and then you  were killed instantly by a Luna Blaster? That is always a sad time.  Different weapons have different strengths, weakness, and specials. Some have longer ranges, others have a faster fire rate, while some are so strong it only takes one hit.

We can apply this to furthering the kingdom. God gives us specific abilities and tasks.  If we listen to His voice and follow His commands we can Knockout, but when we stray and try to stretch the capabilities of ourselves we may end up back at the base.

Romans 12:4-8 (NIV)

4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Win With Teamwork

Rainmaker.  That word either brings you complete distress or joy.  The only way to progress in this ranked battle is by one player grabbing the rainmaker, another splatting a perfect path, and the last kindly destroying all of the enemies.

Christ can create our path and destroy all of our enemies if we let Him, we just have to take the rainmaker!  We have to give Him all of us and live for Him.

Deuteronomy 23:14 (NIV)

14 For the LORD your God moves about in your camp to protect you and to deliver your enemies to you. Your camp must be holy, so that he will not see among you anything indecent and turn away from you.

Don’t Forget to Squid

You’re a squid now! You’re a kid now!

The name of the game is to squid. In between sloshing your bucket all over the place you need to squid to refresh your ink. If you forget to squid because you are busy inking all of the enemies green… Three enemies are on your tail, LOW INK flashes on your screen, and frustrating and miserable death awaits you.

This is definitely a valuable lesson that it took me years to realize.  As Christians we need to take time to refresh and spend time with God, otherwise we can’t move forward.  If we don’t take the time to replenish our bar we lose sight of the goal and start losing. We aren’t talking a game of tower control, but the condition of our souls here.  If you start to feel overwhelmed and lose site of the real purpose… Pray!  Pray not only in the morning or at night, but all day.  Squid throughout the day so you don’t return home with a flashing LOW bar!

1 Chronicles 16:11 (NIV)

11 Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.

Read all of 1 Chronicles 16 here! Once again, the message in this verse applies to all of us, but is also within the context of the book of 1 Chronicles.

Stay Out of Enemies Ink

Sadly, if you tread in enemies ink you move as slow as boiling water when you are ready to throw down on some mac.  You first need to lay down your safe color before you can approach the enemies base and POUNCE!

In life we need to remember how important it is that we surround ourselves with things that expand our relationship with God.  Our spiritual growth will really suffer if we start acting in ways that are not glorifying to God. Remember to spend time with friends that share the same beliefs and support you in furthering the kingdom!

Proverbs 13:20 (NIV)

20 Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.

Sneak Attack

When you see all of the bad guys inking all over the place, your initial reaction is to go out with Dual Squelcher’s blazin’.  But let’s be honest… If you found a little corner away from everyone else and smashed people in secret, your strategy would be so much more effective. This is something we have to be aware of in life.  We may want to go out and save the world, but really spending time in prayer and allowing God to tell you what ways He wants to use you allows you to get more accomplished! Then when the time is right BAM! God has got your back!

Psalm 37:7 (NLT)

7 Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.

Enjoy the splatfest Saturday, January 16th! 🙂 Go team PAST!

Much Love!

Your sister in Christ,

Shay
